Massage Therapy in Midtown Manhattan

Experience Natural Healing with Licensed Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a great addition to the chiropractic care provided at Pico Family Chiropractic Center. Each massage therapy session is tailored to meet the needs of each patient’s specific injury or condition. While many people receive massage therapy for relaxation purposes, most people do not know that massage therapy has therapeutic benefits as well. Dr. Pico’s licensed massage therapist, Robin Harris Rickard, provides care as a natural means to promote healthy body function. It is also a great way to speed up recovery time when injured.

About Robin, the Licensed Massage Therapist at Pico Family Chiropractic Center

Robin Harris Rickard was extensively trained at the internationally renowned Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York. She became a licensed Massage Therapist in New York State in 1990. For nearly a decade, Robin lived and worked between Tokyo and Shanghai where she studied with many masters.

After returning to the United States, Robin continued her training in birth work and became a doula (certified birth assistant) after studying with Penny Simkin of DONA (Doulas of North America). Upon moving to New York City in 1997 she again began her Massage Therapy practice, became an ISHTA Yoga teacher and student of Theta Healing with Eric Brumett.

Presently, between her New Jersey and New York City offices she continues to develop her skills and knowledge. Massage Therapy Complements Our Chiropractic Care Programs

Massage therapy plans tailored to meet the needs of each patient. It can be coordinated with chiropractic care for the best results. Techniques used at our Midtown Manhattan facility may include stroking, tapping, kneading, vibration, friction, compression, rocking and different forms of pressure to the muscles and soft tissue depending on the type of massage you receive. During a session, some specific motions and vibrations can be applied with mechanical devices. Oil, lotions and powders are also used to reduce friction.

While many people may see massage as a luxury, it can also assist in your recovery or treatment plan in addition to becoming part of a health regimen. We utilize massage therapy independently or in conjunction with chiropractic care in order to help you achieve optimal results. You will feel better and more relaxed because of our unique integrative approach. Call Pico Family Chiropractic Center to schedule your appointment today.
